Nightwalkers dwell in the shadows; they live in a world where every night holds secrets. Hunted by magic, beset by evil, the Nightwalkers face their darkest hour yet. When the unthinkable happens, only one legendary male has the power and the will to save them: Adam.

From their first tantalising touch, Jasmine knows Adam is different. What other lover could unlock her tight control, and flood vampire senses jaded by a lifetime of decadent self indulgence

Centuries ago, when he disappeared without a trace, she had given up hope of ever fulfilling the promise of incomparable passion. But here he is, against the very laws of nature, ready to bring down their most vicious enemy, ready to bring her blood to the boiling point . . . if she will only let him.

Rosie 2011-11-15

It’s fabulous to see Jackie Frank returning to the world of the Nightwalkers after three long years. This is a series that brought many people to apprecialte paranormal romance and book one, Jacob, remains a favourite of the genre.

Adam is book six and contains an interesting mix of characters and plot lines. Fans are going to love learning what has happened (and might happen) to familiar characters and delight in the battles with Nicodemeus and Ruth. This is a world chock full of vampires, lycanthropes, demons, sirens … you name it you’re probably going to get it.

I absolutely loved the shock first quarter of the book! Reading was a matter of picking my jaw off the ground in amazement that Jackie Frank dared to ‘DO THAT’ to her fans. It’s about how one dreadful tragedy can have profoundly disturbing ramifications that ruin lives decades into the future. The questions are “What if that tragedy could have been averted” What new future could be created?” It’s a fascinating thought and one that had me completely engaged. This part of the book pivots around Leah, and in fact, I would have loved if the focus could have stayed with Leah.

From such a long set up of the plot (basically a full quarter of the book) this finally becomes the story of Adam, transported 400 years from the past, to the present, in order to change the future, and Jasmine, a jaded, tough vampire. Together they bond and then battle Ruth.

Really from the stunning beginning the rest of the book became far more predictable and mundane. Largely this is because there was only three quarters of the book left for what should have been the main plot. And within this main plot are dotted multiple unexplained mysteries such as what happens to Leah, what happens to Bella and who is the mysterious girl with black and gray hair.

With the emphasis on plot, fast pace to the action and a large cast of characters to catch up with, there is a lack of depth in the characters that makes it hard to engage fully with the story.

I’m so glad that Jackie Frank has come back to her Nightwalkers. This is a good addition to the series and I hope that we see more in the future.
