Becca Fitzpatrick has something going on with this book; both the story and the characters are amazing and mysterious. I liked it because it didn't need a whole lovey-dovey situation to have a story. It wasn't just about the relationship of the two main characters; it had a great story line is basically what I'm trying to say. The story is truly a good one, it keeps your head spinning and it captures your curiosity; I didn't put it down until I was finished. It's one of those books where you'll think you know what's going to happen next, but instead you get something completely different and unexpected. The book kicked off with a great start and ended even better. Not even the middle was boring. One of the many great things about this book was that it was mysterious and compelled you to keep reading and not stop until you were done. It completely pulled me in. I was always busting to know what was going to happen next. I made it very clear to everyone in my house that I was NOT under any circumstances, going to put the book down. I loved the characters of this story, especially Patch; a new kid around town with plenty of secrets and mystery about him. But I found the main character, Nora Grey, to be quite boring. She just didn't have anything to spark my interest, but, that could have just been me. She just always seemed to avoid any adventure and anything too unusually interesting. I enjoyed the ending. It was sweet and smooth and left me satisfied. It wasn't what I expected but still, it was really neat and I was happy with it. Give it a try; I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. |

Hush Hush really is quite a sensation piece of teen paranormal writing- I really can’t understand how this book got even one bad review! Becca Fitzpatrick has created a wonderful story that flows from start to finish, particularly from about the 2nd third of the story. From this point we’re no longer having the story set up, from here it becomes an adrenaline fuelled action feast that keeps you guessing and on your toes right until til the last page. Yes, I can see how it gets compared to Twilight – we’ve got the setting of a high school (helloooo people – it’s a story about teenagers, where else is it going to be set!), and Patch and Nora are biology partners (again, how many subjects in high school did you actually get partnered?), but I really am starting to think that those that are complaining that this story is just another ‘twilight knockoff’ didn’t actually read Ms Myers series – other than being well very written teen paranormal and set in a normal teen setting, there really isn’t much in common. The fallen angel angle is incredibly well done. For those of you who have read some of the other fallen angels out there at the moment (Covert: JR Ward, Angels Blood: Nalini Singh) be prepared to have your world rocked again. It’s a fantastic new take on the idea of fallen angels trying to get back to heaven. This is a story to be enjoyed, relax and go with it. There is no moral lesson (well, not unless you look REALLY hard). No teaching how to survive life as a teenager. No wisdom to impart. This is a story purely to inspire the imagination and make you question the world around you. I normally hate hoping on the hyped bandwagon – and I have to admit after following some of the early reviews before I got my hands on hush, hush, I was prepared to hate this book. So I am delighted to be able to give it five stars, it’s well worth it, and hopefully will inspire a whole new wave of debut authors. Go forth and fall from heaven into this wonderful new book. |
