If you’ve read Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series, you’ll really enjoy the debut novel from Trent Jamieson. This is the sort of book you just can’t wait to be made into a TV series; where you WANT to have the weekly suspense as the novel is just over too quickly. Trent Jamieson has some wonderfully descriptive moments, which I could intimately relate to There are moments of absolute heartache, I cried my eyes out, but they’re not dwelled on; Steve didn’t have time to deal with the heartache, the world was collapsing around him, so we don’t have time to dwell on it either. I had never really noticed how much an author really does control my pain and suffering before! Through all of this world of death and destruction, there is this sense of realism, you’ve got small county hospitals who’re just accepting of the fact that people will occasionally get up and walk, and someone will appear to deal with it; which is so like any small town institution I’ve ever dealt with “panic and drama is for the big city folk; we don’t have time for that sort of carrying on around there, there’s too much else to do” Death Most Definite isn’t ground breaking, it’s not particularly gripping, but it IS a good solid, enjoyable read, which delivers death and zombies in a very original manner. I hope this series continues for many more books, as I can just see so much potential in the characters and the world the Mr Jamieson has created (and I really hope that we get to see this as a decent budget TV series!) |

| I was absorbed into this dark, captivating and quirky urban fantasy novel. Trent has created a well paced storyline that shines a new light on the workings of death. I couldn’t help but be engrossed in Steven’s plight to understand the bloodshed that surrounds him, nor could I help falling in love with his flawed and adorable nature (plus, he’s kinda hot). | ||

| Quirky and darkly humorous, an excellent read - especially if you like the Dresden files. | ||
