Lock the doors and take the phone off the hook, you will not want to be interrupted for this!  You’ll never view a storm the same way, not once you’ve been electrified by Samantha Ryan.

The elusive Joshua comes into focus as we are lead further down Sam’s dark past.  Keri Arthur again proves herself to be a twisty turny author as we are lead down on path, only to suddenly find ourselves facing the wrong way in the wrong time zone!

But we do finally get to find the identity of ‘Sethanon’ – and it’s probably not the answer you were expecting.  This is definitely a story full of surprises.

My only disappointment is that there isn’t more about Gabriel, but maybe half of my fascination with him is the big unknown surrounding him.  Does he really have the hidden depths that are alluded to? Is his soul really that tortured? Or is he really just suffering from a fear of commitment and emotional attachment?!

Such an excellent series, but sadly we may be left hanging. A note on Keri Athur’s website says “here was a fourth book planned, but it’s been so long since I’ve written in the Spook Squad world that I’ve lost the flow of the story and the characters. So the answer would have to be maybe.” All we can hope is that the characters start yelling their stories to her in her sleep.

Not that the ending is incomplete, each of the books in this series has been a complete story, just with the same threads running through them, slowly being built on with each book.  Think more in lines with the ending of Gone with the wind; complete, but more could easily have followed.

For fans of the other books by Keri Arthur, or anyone who has enjoyed JD Robb, Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance, Rob Thurman or even Jenna Black, you are going to just love then entire Spook Squad series. If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably even get a thrill at being left with all those unanswered questions! It gives me a chance to imagine a little myself.
