Amish murder mystery! If you like Agatha Christie you'll get a kick out of this novel, for both the writing style and the mentions of the author. One of my issues with Amish romances is the tendency to give all the characters a horrific tragedy in their past and make part of the subplot a lesson on accepting every thing as gods will, it might make good christan lessons but it makes for horrible plots, Falling to Pieces didn't suffer from this. The lessons in trusting god were subtle and well woven into the plot. More than that, the story was full of witty, clever and charming characters. The women had spunk, husbands were adoring and supportive, and children got dirty! With lots of twists, a few tear jerking scenes, a lot of giggles, and Vannetta Chapman has created the first book in a series I'm dying to read more of. It's not romance, but there are romantic elements, no fairies need to die for you to enjoy this book...trust me ;) |
